Our Commitment to Privacy

Bunwise is designed with privacy at its core. Your financial data is personal and sensitive, and we believe it should stay on your device, under your control.

This policy explains what information we collect, what we don't collect, and how we handle the limited data we do process.

What We DON'T Collect

  • ✓ No financial data sync: Your income, expenses, assets, debts, and calculations never leave your device.
  • ✓ No account required: We don't collect names, emails, phone numbers, or create user profiles.
  • ✓ No cloud backup: Your data is not automatically backed up to our servers or any cloud service.
  • ✓ No third-party analytics: We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar tracking tools.
  • ✓ No advertising tracking: We don't track you for advertising purposes or share data with ad networks.

How the App Stores Your Data

Bunwise is a local-first application. This means:

  • All your financial data is stored in your device's local storage (Android SharedPreferences/SQLite)
  • Calculations happen entirely on your device
  • No internet connection is required to use the core features
  • If you uninstall the app, all your data is deleted from your device

What We DO Collect (Minimal)

1. Crash Reports (Optional)

If the app crashes, we may collect anonymized technical data to fix bugs:

  • Device model and Android version
  • App version and crash stack trace
  • Time of crash

Important: Crash reports never include your financial data, personal information, or any calculations.

2. Purchase Information (Bunwise Plus)

If you purchase Bunwise Plus:

  • Google Play handles the transaction and stores your payment information (not us)
  • We receive only a receipt token to verify your purchase
  • We don't see your credit card, name, or billing address

3. Website Analytics (bunwise.app only)

On this website (not the app), we may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand:

  • Page views and navigation patterns
  • Referral sources (how people find us)
  • Device type (mobile vs desktop)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics or similar privacy-respecting tools that don't track individuals or use cookies.

Data Security

Since your financial data stays on your device:

  • It's protected by your device's security (lock screen, encryption, etc.)
  • We recommend using your device's built-in backup features if you want to preserve your data
  • The app offers a privacy mode to hide numbers in widgets and when switching apps

Your Rights

Because we don't collect personal data:

  • Data deletion: Simply uninstall the app. Your data is immediately deleted from your device.
  • Data export: There's nothing to export from our servers because we don't have your data.
  • Data correction: You control and can edit all data directly in the app.

Children's Privacy

Bunwise is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you're a parent and believe your child has used the app, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. We'll notify you of significant changes through:

  • An in-app notification
  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
